a beautiful short tour with very easy access, alot of jumping potential ( especially for those who enjoy precission jumps), although we left the car park by 8:45 we were not that first in the gorge and as we returned there were more than 30 cars, here an early start pays. the tour itself starts off with a fun enclosed section with jumps and abseils culminating in a slide/jump/ab with a beautiful cave behind, shortly after a siphon which if necessary could be climbed but is easily swam under, the following 1 km is a mix of Stepped stream bed with short enclosed sections, we exited at the point where the ascent path briefly meets the stream bed.

the drive into the parking is quite deeply rutted, scraped through in a Corsa, the wall down is simple and the water level can be easily judged from the entry, the canyon itself is short but unique, only one place required spreading techniques and is relatively short (second abseil) the traverse line seemed pretty new, the resulting rapel exits into the current and care should be taken due to wood below, not a problem today but potentially becoming one with more water, a worthwhile addition, we did it in the afternoon afte completing oscuros de Balces

of the 4 canyons we did in our short stop in the Sierra de Guarra Region this was the highlight, beautiful water dappled in sunlight, a fun more technical begging leading to a playful later half, even the walk in is beautiful and filled with impressive birds of Prey soaring along the cliff walls, the walk out is shaded. 4 groups in the gorge, but all were happy to let us pass.

an interesting canyon, heavily frequented, we entered at the second entry parking on the east sid of the gorge, were we to repeat this tour we would have exited at the obvious bathing area the end of the first closed section, this is the part used by the local companies. This section is a good mix of swimming, downclimbs and jumps, care should be taken when entering pools, that water flow is briefly analysed. we found ourselves behind a group led by a friendly local guide , who intially offered us to pass by, I asked if it would be ok to follow him to maximise the fun through the section he had no problem, many small siphons are swimmable and pools can be jumped but prior knowledge or a good understanding of white water would be essential. We opted to continue into the second enclosed section which is short but full of jumps, after this (30 minutes) addition, the remainder of the 'canyon' is a simple albeit, 45 minute long walk along the pretty stream bed to the bathing areas and dam (I was informed by a local guide that jumping off the dam is prohibited and if caught fines could be issued), we took the exit path on the Oro. left instead. We were only using 1 car but we're lucky to be granted a lift back to the upper car park by one of the guides we met in the canyon, alternately a 2 hour, roadside walk would be required.

we entered at 10, already 4 other groups entering/in the canyon, initial pools worth depth checking as depth hard to gauge, initially a forest canyon, pretty but slippery, character changes after 10m slide(doable but worth taking the initial ramp slowly to avoid loss of control at lip), remainder jumpy and fun until 20m slide, local guide said there have been frequent accidents due to aggressive bump at vertical transition, we jumped from stand on left.

canyon was beautiful, payment required, small kiosk at begging of entry walk, 5 euros per person , cash only at kiosk ( potential discount for qualified guides) can also be paid online at riobarbaira.it, more than worth it for quality of canyon + facilities at takeout.

an excellent canyon a short drive from Garda, diverse character with a showstopper repel to finish, we entered by low water after consulting the canyoning company at exit due to threatening clouds, ultimately Entered just before a guided group, clear water, and excellent rigging, for those with no second car, the friendly staff from the canyoning operation at the exit car park were kind enough to give us a lift back to the top ( kindness was repaid with some beers after refusal to accept cash).

Hello, I was planning to run this canyon last year, and was told by people at the café near the exit that access to the canyon is forbidden and that rangers patrol and fine poeple using it. Does anyone know if this is still the case? Also @bina from your description is sounds like exit via the lake is prohibited by the land owner? Would be very greatful for any and all information! Thanks

From the car park, the forestry road at the entrance is to be followed until it turns into a path which can be followed until it crosses the purcaraccia and then ultimately until the canyon entry. The tour itself is beautiful and almost all drops are jumpable, some definitely require probing first due to underwater rocks. The exit follows A large boulder on Oro left side of the canyon about 80 below the last very long pool. **All access to this canyon as well as Polischelu and Purcaraccia is prohibited for anyone that is not a guide (there were police checking ids before the "easier" access to Purcaraccia. Furthermore the only approved parking for any of these 3 canyons is located at the bottom of the valley (very clear from the road) Entry to this car park is 5 euros for the day, and attendants will verify that you are either a card carrying guide or are booked on to a tour (the car park is also the start and end location for all commercial tours to these 2 canyons). Any parking outside of the allocated parking lot is apparently subject to substantial fines, and is well enforced.

A beautfiul canyon that is heavily used. The rigging is, as would be expected of such a well-used canyon, excellent. we left later than intended at arround 11, we met other guides, and their respective groups in the canyon, who were very friendly (inspite of our lack of french ability) and even pointed out that the first drop could be slid by downclimbing into a seated position about 2 m below the top. The tour is short and most drops can be either slid or jumped. All access to this canyon as well as Vacca and Purcaraccia is prohibited for anyone that is not a guide (there were police checking i.d.s before the "easier" access to Purcaraccia. One of the most beautiful canyons I have had the luck to venture into, the access path is steep but in the whole well-marked up until the point at which it crosses the exit of the canyon. From here, the path becomes somewhat of a choose your own adventure, with many paths leading uphill some steeper and some more meandering, but they all seem to reach the same point, the crossing diretly above the 40m rapell at the latter end of the tour. After the crossing, the paths continue to meander up the orographic left side of the canyon until the entry to the canyon. The tour itself is comprised of a series of beautiful slides jumps and repels in an open washed granite setting, surely the finest the island has to offer. All access to this canyon as well as Vacca and Polischellu is prohibited for anyone that is not a guide, or, as I have read on some forums a member of a recognized canyoning organization (there were police checking IDs before the "easier" access to Purcaraccia (car park on the highest bend of the pass out of the valley). Furthermore, the only approved parking for any of these 3 canyons is located at the bottom of the valley (very clear from the road) Entry to this car park is 5 euros for the day, and attendants will verify that you are either a card-carrying guide (or member of a recognized canyoning association) or are booked on to a tour (the car park is also the). The access, as mentioned below, is now through the ropes course by an obvious trail, the canyon is fantastically equipped and the water was warm, the parking, a few turns below the high ropes course has a good path leading to the exit, orographic right after C13 (see photo), the path is a steep rocky climb which would be easy to miss.
