Die Garganta de Escuain ist eine gewaltige Schlucht, die das Wasser aus einer ganzen Reihe von Seitenbarrancos sammelt; zB Angones, Consusa, Trasito, um nur einige wenige zu nennen. Die meisten dieser Seitenbäche sind leider für Canyoning nicht freigegeben, weil sie im (Ordesa-)Nationalpark liegen. In der Schlucht gibt es auch einen kleinen Abseilcanyon außerhalb des NP, den Escuain inferior, aber das Highlight ist die ganze Großschlucht, die mit Wanderwegen gut erschlossen ist. Kurz zur begrifflichen Klarstellung: Der Escuain sup. befindet sich weit oberhalb des beschriebenen Abschnitts und endet dort , wo der Barranco Carcil von (orograf.) rechts einmündet. Hier beginnt dann eigentlich der Escuain med., , doch bin ich nocht nicht so weit nach oben vorgestoßen. Diese meine Beschreibung beginnt an der großen Karstquelle und endet am Beginn des Escuain med. Der Escuain inf. liegt im Bereich des Abstiegs des Escuain inf, wobei dieser im Abstieg auf dem Zustiegsweg am linken Hochuferumgangen wird. In der Schlucht bricht auch eine starke Karstquelle aus dem Berg. Sie steht am Ende einer der Durchgangshöhlen mit größter Höhendifferenz. Ich habe mich schon einmal, zusammen mit den Chiemgauer Höhlenbären um die erforderliche Genehmigung bemüht - no chance. Für Kinder ist diese Schlucht ein von der Natur eingerichtetes Wunderland, das sie immer wieder auf's Neue begeistern wird.

Unfortunately, most of these side streams are not open to canyoning because they are located in the (Ordesa) National Park. There is also a small rappel canyon in the canyon outside the NP, the Escuain inferior, but the highlight is the entire great canyon, which is well developed with hiking trails. Just to clarify the terminology: the Escuain superiore is located far above the parts described and exits where the Barranco Carcil joins from the (orographic) right. This is where the Escuain med. actually begins, but I have not yet gone that far up. This description begins at the large karst spring and exits at the beginning of the Escuain med. The Escuain inferiore lies in the area of the descent of the Escuain inferiore, which is bypassed on the descent on the access path on the left high bank. A strong karst spring also bursts out of the mountain in the canyon. It is located at the exit of one of the passage caves with the greatest difference in altitude. Together with the Chiemgau cave bears, I once tried to get the necessary permit - no chance. For children, this canyon is a wonderland created by nature that will never cease to amaze them.

Wir fahren auf der A-138 von Ainsa nach Norden in Richtung Bielsa. Wir kommen über Labuerda und Escalona zur Brücke über den Rio Yaga, wo der Miraval-Canyon zu Ende ist - 17 km ab Ainsa, Ortsmitte. Wir fahren an dem Weiler Hospital vorbei und biegen 450 m nach der Brücke über den Rio Yaga in spitzem Winkel links hinauf ab in Richtung Tella, Revilla. Wir fahren stetig bergauf, lassen nach 5,7 km die Abzweigung nach Tella rechts liegen, nehmen weiter Kurs auf Revilla und kommen nach weiteren 4,9 km zu einer scharfen Rechtskurve, an deren linkem Rand sich eine größere Freifläche zum Abstellen unseres Autos findet. Von hier wären es noch 0,9 km bis Revilla.

We head north on the A-138 from Ainsa towards Bielsa. We pass through Labuerda and Escalona to reach the bridge over the Rio Yaga, where the Miraval canyon ends - 17 km from Ainsa, town center. We pass the hamlet of Hospital and 450 m after the bridge over the Rio Yaga we turn left uphill at an acute angle towards Tella, Revilla. We drive steadily uphill, leaving the turnoff to Tella on the right after 5.7 km. We continue towards Revilla and after another 4.9 km we come to a sharp right turn, at the left edge of which there is a large open space where we can park our car. From here it would be another 0.9 km to Revilla.

Vom Parkplatz aus führt ein vor allem zu Beginn aussichtsreicher Weg abwärts in Richtung Escuain u. Garganta de Escuain. Wir kreuzen den Bach des Trasito (darunter schöner Wasserfall zum Abseilen), queren den Consusa an dessen Ausstieg unterhalb eines ebenfalls sehr schönen Wasserfalls und achten dann auf eine Verzweigung, wo der Weg links hinunter in das Bachbett des Escuain und jenseits hinauf zu den Häusern von Escuain führt. Wir biegen hier jedoch rechts ab und laufen zunächst hoch über der Flusssohle des Rio Yaga zunächst in nördlicher Richtung

From the parking lot, a path leads downhill, especially at the beginning, in the direction of Escuain and Garganta de Escuain. We cross the stream of the Trasito (below a beautiful waterfall for rappel), cross the Consusa at its exit below an also very beautiful waterfall and then watch out for a fork where the path leads left down into the streambed of the Escuain and beyond up to the houses of Escuain. However, we turn right here and walk first high above the riverbed of the Rio Yaga first in a northerly direction.

Jetzt sind wir schon in unserem Wandercanyon zugange. Der Weg ist wiederholt durch kleine Klettereien (unschwer) unterbrochen. Dann kommen wir zum Ende des Abschnitts, wo man von oben her einen kurzen Abseilcanyon machen kann (eigene Beschreibung: "Escuain inf.") und umgehen diesen Abschnitt am nordöstlichen Hang im Niederwald. Wir kommen wieder in die Flusssohle - nach links würde es flussabwärts zu besagten Abseilcanyon gehen, wir halten aber weiter flussauf. Wir passieren eine interessante Blockanhäufung mit Wasserfall, passieren die Mündung des Bco. Angones (siehe eigene Beschreibung) und kommen schließlich zu der Stelle, wo rechts oben, orograf. links die starke Karstquelle aus dem Berg bricht. Hier kann man unschwer hinaufklettern und durch das breite Höhlenmaul in's Innere des Berges vordringen, bis die Dunkelheit und das Rauschen des Wassers die Ängstlichen unter uns wieder zur Umkehr veranlassen. Man könnte den Rio Yaga weiter flussauf gehen, würde dann auf einen von dem Weiler Revilla über das Bachbett ziehenden Pfad treffen und könnte diesen nach rechts zurück zum Auto nehmen. Alternativ gehen wir wieder den Herweg zurück und kommen wenige Meter nach der vom Wasser zerstörten Mauerung im Flussbett an den Wasserfall mit dem einmaligen Gumpen darunter. Hier könnte man auf mehrere Weise abseilen, aber Highlight ist hier ein Sprung von etwa 13 m Höhe. Wer beides nicht will, geht am dem Anmarschweg weiter zurück und trifft dort, wo von rechts der Weg von der Ortschaft Escuain herabkommt, auf die "Springer". Der Sprung kann übrigens nach Belieben wiederholt werden, wenn man flussab läuft und dann der ausgetretenen Spur links hinauf zum Weg folgt. Im Sommer tummeln sich am großen Gumpen, aber auch weiter unten in weiteren Gumpen des Rio Yaga zahlreche Badegäste. Ein wunderschönes Plätzchen.

Now we are already in our hiking canyon. The path is repeatedly interrupted by small climbs (not difficult). Then we come to the exit of the parts where you can make a short rappel canyon from above (own description: "Escuain inferiore") and bypass this part on the north-eastern slope in the coppice. We come back to the river bed - to the left would take us downstream to the aforementioned rappel canyon, but we continue upstream. We pass an interesting accumulation of boulders with a waterfall, pass the mouth of the Bco. Angones (see separate description) and finally come to the point where the strong karst spring breaks out of the mountain at the top right, orographic left. Here you can easily climb up and penetrate through the wide mouth of the cave into the interior of the mountain until the darkness and the sound of the water cause the more timid among us to turn back. You could walk further upstream along the Rio Yaga, then meet a path leading from the hamlet of Revilla across the streambed and take this to the right back to the car. Alternatively, you can go back the way you came and reach the waterfall with the unique pool below a few meters after the wall in the riverbed that has been destroyed by the water. There are several ways to rappel here, but the highlight is a jump of around 13 meters. If you don't want to do both, continue back along the approach path and meet the "jumpers" where the path from the village of Escuain comes down from the right. Incidentally, the jump can be repeated at will by walking downstream and then following the well-trodden tracks on the left up to the path. In summer, the large pool and other pools further down the Rio Yaga are full of bathers. A beautiful spot.

Wir gehen vom Gumpen etwa 100 m flussabwärts bis zu der Stelle, wo der vom Weiler Escuain herabkommende Weg den Fluss kreuzt. Diesen Weg nehmen wir nach links und kommen auf unserem Zustiegsweg wieder hinauf zum Auto.

We go downstream from the pool for about 100 m to the place where the path coming down from the hamlet of Escuain crosses the river. We take this path to the left and come back up to the car on our access path.
