Die A-11 von Florenz nach Viareggio - Pisa an der Ausfahrt Lucca verlassen und auf der SS12 entlang dem Fluss Serchio in Richtung Norden. Bei Chifenti führt die SS12 rechts weiter in Richtung Passo del Abetone. Wir aber fahren hier nach links auf der SP445 in Richtung Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. Nach ca 3 km rechts abzweigen in Richtung Tereglio - Alpe Tre Potenze. In Tereglio weiter in Richtung Passo del Giovo. Nach ca. 6 - 7 km rechts abzweigen in Richtung Orrido di Botri auf den großen Touristenparkplatz am Ende der Schlucht auf einer Meereshöhe von 640 m in Ponte a Gaio. Casentino einsteigen will - vgl. unten "Zustieg" - mit einem zweiten Fahrzeug ca. 9,4 km weiter auf der Straße zum Passo del Giovo. Vorbei am Rifugio Casentino auf 1250 m Meereshöhe, stellt man das Auto rechts auf einem Platz ab, wo ein deutlich erkennbar ein leicht abwärts führender Weg beginnt ("P2").

Leave the A-11 from Florence to Viareggio - Pisa at the Lucca exit and head north on the SS12 along the Serchio river. At Chifenti, the SS12 continues to the right in the direction of Passo del Abetone. However, we turn left here onto the SP445 towards Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. After about 3 km, turn right towards Tereglio - Alpe Tre Potenze. In Tereglio continue in the direction of Passo del Giovo. After approx. 6 - 7 km, turn right towards Orrido di Botri to the large tourist parking lot at the exit of the canyon at an altitude of 640 m in Ponte a Gaio. Casentino - see "Access" below - continue with a second vehicle for approx. 9.4 km on the road to Passo del Giovo. Past the Rifugio Casentino at 1250 m above sea level, park the car on the right in a square where a clearly recognizable path leading slightly downhill begins ("P2").

Entweder über Rifugio Casentini wie beim oberen Zustieg zum Mariana ("E4") und dann auf dem "Gea 14" (Grande Escursione Appenninica) über den Mariana hinweg u. weiter hinunter zum Colle de la Prada, um kurz danach direkt in den Ribellino einzusteigen ("E2"). Einfacher - auch, weil ohne Umsetzung machbar - können wir vom Parkplatz an der Ponte Gaio "P1" (660m üNN) den "Gea 11" in östlicher Richtung auf dem Rücken bergauf bis auf etwa 1340m üNN, wo sich der Steig verzweigt. Wir halten uns nun auf dem "Gea 12" links, bis der "Gea 14" links vom "Gea 12" abzweigt. Wir nehmen den "Gea 14", der dann einen linken Zufluss des Ribellino kreuzt (Einstieg "E1"). Diesem Zufluss folgen wir bis zur Mündung in den Ribellino. Wir kommen hier weiter unten erst in den Ribellino, aber rechtzeitig für den interessanten Abschnitt. Selbstverständlich kann man auf dem Weg auch weiter - vorbei an einer Alpe - aufwärts, um direkt in den Ribellino einzusteigen ("E2").

Either via Rifugio Casentini as in the upper access to the Mariana ("E4") and then on the "Gea 14" (Grande Escursione Appenninica) over the Mariana and further down to Colle de la Prada, to join the Ribellino shortly afterwards ("E2"). Easier - also because it can be done without transfer - from the parking lot at the Ponte Gaio "P1" (660m above sea level) we can follow the "Gea 11" in an easterly direction uphill on the ridge to about 1340m above sea level, where the path branches off. We now keep left on "Gea 12" until "Gea 14" branches off to the left of "Gea 12". We take "Gea 14", which then crosses a left tributary of the Ribellino (entry "E1"). We follow this tributary until it flows into the Ribellino. We only enter the Ribellino further down here, but in good time for the interesting parts. Of course, you can also continue uphill along the path - past an alp - to enter the Ribellino directly ("E2").

5 oder 4 (bei Seitenzustieg) Abseiler im Ribellino, dann Flusswanderung (mit Abklettern) in der Orrido di Botri.
