Von Luino am Ostufer des Lago Maggiore nehmen wir die SP 69 nach Castello Castellveccana (9,4 km). Wir verlassen diese Straße hier nach links auf die SP 7 - Via Galileo Galilei - in Richtung Nasca, Sant'Antonio, Arcumeggia. Die Straße steigt nun ständig an, wir sehen die 100m hofen Cascate della Froda (vgl. Froda inferiore) und erreichen 4,8 km nach dem Abbiegen von der SP 69 in Castellveccana eine markante Linksserpentine. Hier stellen wir das untere Auto ab. In der Kehre trifft ein Fußweg aus westlicher Richtung auf die Straße. Wenn wir ihn etwa 5 Min. bis zu einem Steg (ist zugleich der Rückweg nach dem Ausstieg) gehen, können wir den Wasserstand im Froda prüfen.\nMit dem zweiten Auto fahren wir dann noch 550 m weiter und biegen dann rechts ab auf die SP 8 ("Passo Cuvignone"). Auf der Sp 8 fahren wir gut 1100 m bergauf und suchen uns dann einen geeigneten Parkplatz.

From Luino, on the eastern shore of Lake Maggiore, we take SP 69 to Castello Castellveccana (9.4 km). We leave this road here to the left on the SP 7 - Via Galileo Galilei - in the direction of Nazca, Sant'Antonio, Arcumeggia. The road now climbs steadily, we see the 100m high Cascate della Froda (cf. Froda inferiore) and 4.8 km after turning off the SP 69 in Castellveccana we reach a prominent left-hand serpentine. Here we park the lower car. In the hairpin bend a footpath from the west meets the road. If we walk along it for about 5 minutes until we reach a footbridge (it is also the way back after the exit), we can check the water level in the Froda.\nWith the second car we then continue for another 550 m and then turn right onto the SP 8 ("Passo Cuvignone"). On the Sp 8 we go uphill for a good 1100 m and then we look for a suitable parking place.

Wir gehen im lichten Laubwald bergab und halten dabei schräg auf den unter uns dahinfließenden Bach (Froda) zu. Relativ spät steigen wir in den Bach ein und kommen bald zum ersten Abseiler.

We go downhill in the sparse deciduous forest, keeping diagonally towards the stream (Froda) flowing below us. Relatively late we enter the stream and soon come to the first rappel.

Wie schon erwähnt, beginnt in der Vertikale eine Sukzession von 11 Abseilern. Dabei eröffnen sich schöne Ausblicke bis hin zum Lago Maggiore und die dahinter aufragenden Tessiner Berge. As already mentioned, a succession of 11 rappels begins vertically. This opens up beautiful views as far as Lake Maggiore and the Ticino mountains towering behind.
