Then you have to look for the most convenient access to the concrete streambed. The first option is blocked by a wire fence, but you can open it from the left if necessary, as it hangs loosely in the bushes here. The next access point is after the road dip. Before the small house, follow the path that leads steeply down to the right into the streambed after a few meters.
Tour: Once in the concrete bed of the stream, we follow it and the subsequent clear tracks, first on the right and later on the left side of the stream.
We come to the final entry at a prominent tree and a massive iron anchor on a large boulder in the middle of the stream.
The first rappel begins here (40m), followed by a diagonal rappel (20m - belay on the right) to the belay above the high and wide wall (left). The rappel here was also in 2015 (end of the year) from a combination of roots and branches of a tree. Even on our first ascent (in 2010), it was too unsafe for us to place an anchor in the brittle tufa. In 2024, the stand was fine.
Now you descend about 55m and come to a plateau-like ledge. There is now an alternative here to continue the descent. We took a route on the right-hand edge of the ledge, which is at best wetted by the water flow and the anchor is slightly below the ledge on the right. The rappelling routes here are also around 55m.
Alternatively, there is a direct descent from this ledge directly along or in the main watercourse. An anchor should be available, a rope protector is advisable in case of doubt. The abseil height here should - estimated ! - should be around 45m. This is probably the more athletic option. The further descent then takes place together again over iron steps and secured on massive fixed ropes. Even a "half-shoe tourist" can climb up to the last waterfalls. The ambience with the steep and high walls and chutes is impressive. Finally, you reach the bottom of the valley and walk out to the beach on pleasant paths.</desc></wpt><wpt lat="36.49730000" lon="29.13200000">
<desc>v4 a3 III | 10min/2h15/1h | 3.15⭐ | 55m
2024-04-07: We did the entire canyon in 3 rappels. The road initially walks towards the slope and, as soon as it reaches the foot of the slope, turns right and heads south, gradually ascending along the coast (beautiful view of Olüdeniz). Material: 1 piece of pin
Characteristics;
- Landing in shallow water.
- The dark zone begins after the 15th descent.
- After the dark zone, the canyon takes the shape of a valley.
- It is reached by going over and under huge rocks in the shape of a valley.
- The canyon then leaves the valley shape and runs as a river walk until the next descent.

16th landing;
Length: 5.90 m.
Station: Artificial
Material: 1 piece of bolt
Characteristics;
- Landing in shallow water.

17.landing;
Length: 5.30 m.
Station: Artificial
Material: 1 piece of pin
Characteristics;
- Half of the descent has a positive slope, the rest has a negative slope.
- The landing is in deep water.

* The trailing descent (length of descent x 2) and the rope allowance (2 m each) for the belayed athlete are calculated and used for the descents;
- The shortest rope is 11.92 m long.
- The longest rope is 77.58 m long.

* The entrance to the canyon is before the first descent. As there is only a short distance between the entrance to the canyon and the first descent, start the descent from the bridge.
* If there are no problems, the canyon can be done with one night of camping by moving quickly with a team of 4 people.
* The first parts of the canyon are a river walk and the wall height is not high.
* The factor that makes even the easiest movement in the canyon difficult is the swamp.
* In some places it sinks to waist height.
* From the moment you enter the bottom of the canyon, you must continue through the swamp and the traps it creates until you reach the exit.
* Don't skip it just because it's soft here. Because there may be rocks directly below the swamp appearance. As you descend with one step, you may step on a muddy surface with a rocky bottom with the other step.
* Be careful with each step to avoid foot fractures or sprains.
* Horizontal and vertical localized fractures are slippery layers. These are the cracks and crevices you will see on the walls in the canyon. These points can shift, especially in wet conditions and light vibrations.
* You can see these cracks in many parts of the canyon.
* There are huge rocks between the walls of the canyon.
* The canyon has wind corridors, especially from the first part onwards.
* A beautiful waterfall flows in the cave.
* After the 6th descent, the canyon takes the form of a narrow channel and you have to walk through the waterfalls and swim in water that is more than high in places.
* The mud in the canal after the 6th descent is quite difficult for the athletes.
* After leaving the cave after the 6th descent, the first valley form begins.
* After the 6th descent, you can exit the canyon by bypassing a point in the valley form. After entering the valley after the 6th descent and after about an hour of walking with 4 people, the exit is located where the top of the right wall of the canyon has the shape of an arch. If you look at this slope from below, the right side is a steep slope. First you go up from there, where the water has shaped the marble and makes it look like a step. Then you reach the most difficult steep climb through the trees. Once you have conquered this difficult ascent, you will find the goat path and leave the canyon. There are fields behind the hill and it is very close to the village.

* After the 15th descent, the second valley form begins and there is a landslide area, so be careful.
* Since the anchors at the stations were destroyed by floods and rocks and there was no previous technical report on the canyon, natural stations were favored as much as possible to use the 25 anchors next to us sparingly.
* Canyon anchoring will be done in the future.
* For accommodation before and/or after the canyon pass, you can choose the tree houses, bungalow houses or tent areas at the Saklıkent Gorge Club in the Saklıkent National Park facilities.
* One of the places where you can eat after the canyon is Saklıkent Gorge Club, which is located in Saklıkent National Park facilities at the exit of the canyon.

If you don't want to pay a parking fee, park your car south of the river.
Take the second car and drive 700 m (calculated from the road bridge at the canyon exit) in the direction of Palamut, Kalkan (SW). Then we turn left onto a paved road, which leads us up the canyon in many serpentines on the orographic left side. After about 10.7 km we pass some houses (clear view to the east). 150 m further on, a dirt road branches off to the left. We continue on our little road and after a further 670 m take the track to the left at a fork. The next fork awaits us approx. 950 m further on. We stay left again and pass a few houses. 2750m after this last fork, we come to another fork in the track. The total distance from the start of the track in the valley to here is around 15.2 km.
Here we have to decide whether we want to enter at the start of the canyon or continue down the canyon from or next to a road bridge into the canyon. If we want to avoid the upper parts of the canyon like the majority of hikers, we continue to the left and after 2.6 km reach the bridge over the canyon. Incidentally, you can also get here on the orographic right-hand side of the gorge via Arsaköy - or rather, past it to the north and largely on tarred roads. We park our car here for this access B.
However, if we want to enter at the start of the gorge, we turn right onto a dirt road that leads to the hamlet of Camliova and the road to Sütlegen. After 3.6 km, we come to a tree-free firebreak in a right-hand bend, which descends to the left (north) to the open gravel bed of the Karaçay Dere. We park our car here for this access A.

If you don't want to pay a parking fee, park the car south of the river.\nFrom here, take the second car and drive north along the road. After 2.7 km, turn right and drive uphill towards Arsaköy. After 6.1 km uphill, we come to a road coming from the north and continue on this road to the right in a southerly direction. After another 3.6 km we leave the road to Arkasöy and turn half right (GPS: 36°30'24.75 "N 29°26'25.56 "E). We follow this road in a south-westerly direction. After about 250 m in a south-easterly direction, we keep left at a junction and after another 200 m on the concrete road we reach the blue entrance gate to the cemetery. In front of the wall, our path now descends to the right and continues along the cemetery wall to its north-eastern exit. Here we follow the path, which initially heads in an easterly direction, but after less than 100 m continues to the north-east. About 200 m further on, we cross a (dry) stream, and a little later the path follows a 90-degree bend heading SE up to a saddle where it meets a slope coming from the left (690 m alt.). We follow the track on the other side downhill in a NE direction. After it has been covered by boulders for a few meters, it turns into a path that continues downhill in the same direction through a sparse pine forest. After about 1800 m (calculated from the saddle) and a short ascent in the opposite direction, you will see a newer forest track on the right below. We descend to it - without a path - and follow it to the right (in a southerly direction). It runs alongside a larger, fenced-in clear-cut area until it makes a sharp left turn at a junction and leads into the fenced-in area to the north. At another fork, we take the upper branch of the track and (not quite 1000 m after crossing the fence) come to a ditch, which we follow - branching off from the track - to the right down to the Karpuz Cayi (melon river). The entry point is at about 360 m altitude.
For access to the middle of the canyon: above the well in a SW direction between the fields to a boulder (N36.8153716°/E31.6961150°) that is clearly visible at the end, under which there is a cave with a prominent pillar. Good view of the canyon here.
The descent begins about 40 m further to the left (north) and leads down to a rock slab with footprints to the cave, then through it to the right and now a good 70 meters in altitude through the maquis, partly along a streambed.
Then cross to the right for about 80 m until you come to another streambed and downclimb this. At an approximately 10 m high drop, cross horizontally to the left to a tree, on which you then rappel 18 m.
Continue along the streambed and at another drop on the right down the scree path in the forest to the stream. Here you can downclimb to the right to a height of 5 m above the stream and then jump into the depths of the water.
Tour: The upper part of the gorge has not yet been climbed by us. It begins with a narrow section and is already very aquatic here. More information can be found at https://es.wikiloc.com/rutas-descenso-de-barrancos/acc-ahmetler2-22980540. Apparently there is an (emergency) exit option up to the village of Ahmetler before the second section of the gorge begins on the right.
In the lower parts, no more ropes were needed in the river itself. Everything could be jumped or downclimbed from the middle entrance. However, several abseiling points were set up towards the exit.
There were several places with siphons that could be bypassed. Sometimes you have to climb up to 2 m to avoid having to dive. In many cases, the way forward is not obvious! Due to the sometimes very narrow, winding passages, problems can occur when the water flow is higher. We can park the vehicle here in the square in front of the new mosque (N36.8255860° E31.6967230°).
Return: After a final swim, we leave the riverbed to the left and reach the road bridge a good 100 m further downstream.</desc></wpt><wpt lat="40.18180000" lon="29.73320000">
<desc>v? a? ? | 0min/0min/0min | ⭐ | m
Approach: From P1 directly into the stream
Tour: See videos & photos</desc></wpt><wpt lat="40.21060000" lon="29.73660000">
<desc>v? a? ? | 0min/0min/0min | ⭐ | m
Comment: P2 für Ausstieg

Access: see Google aerial photos in "Photo gallery", also for implementation
Return: see Google aerial photos in "Photo gallery" (brown line)</desc></wpt><wpt lat="40.18200000" lon="29.73320000">
<desc>v? a? ? | 0min/0min/0min | ⭐ | m
Comment: P1 für Zustieg

Access: see Google aerial photos in "Photo gallery", also for implementation
Return: see Google aerial photos in "Photo gallery" (brown line)</desc></wpt><wpt lat="40.20400000" lon="29.72690000">
<desc>v? a? ? | 0min/0min/0min | ⭐ | m
Return: see Google aerial photos in "Photo gallery" (brown line)</desc></wpt><wpt lat="41.63450000" lon="33.14290000">
<desc>v4 a4 IV | 5min/4h30/50min | ⭐ | 22m</desc></wpt><wpt lat="41.63390000" lon="33.14350000">
<desc>v4 a4 IV | 5min/4h30/50min | ⭐ | 22m
Comment: P1 (Zustieg)
</desc></wpt><wpt lat="41.65750000" lon="33.14040000">
<desc>v4 a4 IV | 5min/4h30/50min | ⭐ | 22m
Comment: P2 (Ausstieg)
</desc></wpt><wpt lat="41.65470000" lon="33.14160000">
<desc>v4 a4 IV | 5min/4h30/50min | ⭐ | 22m</desc></wpt><wpt lat="36.24390000" lon="29.46580000">
<desc>v3 a2 III | 15min/5h/10min | 3.2⭐ | 27m
2024-04-09: Dry canyon with exit at a very touristy beach
2024-03-14: Automatisch importiert von Descente-Canyon.com für Canyon Kaputas
