Summary:
40 aniversario is the upper part of Valporquero, can be combined with the grotto.
Access:
Going up to Valporquero you will see the village on your right. Park by the water fountain instead of looking for parking spots in the village.
Approach (30 min):
Traverse through the village, more or less horizontal, first on a cemented trail but soon on a path (past a lonesome building) and with a couple of zigzags down to the stream.
Tour (1 h):
First a simple mountainstream, until the rocks oblige the stream to form a couple of scenic waterfalls. Well bolted, for training purposes and guided abseils.
Return (15 min):
Exit left bank where the last waterfall joins a source in front, hike up to the village. Optional visit to the touristic cave by following the stream, the ticket booth is located a little higher from the cave entrance. One can also descend the cave 'Valporquero - Curso de agua' or via the technical 'Sima de perlas'

Done before the touristic cave, followed by Sil de Perlas. Canyon had high water, which makes the cave slightly more challenging. Canyon 40 aniversario is bolted for training purposes and high flow. Under normal conditions the canyon should have low water.

Hydrology:
Small water catchment area, chances of finding sporty water levels are slim, but it is wise to check out the canyon first before committing to the cave. In general the cave is done with low water levels in the canyon.
