Wir kommen aus Richtung Muscat und fahren auf der Route 17 am Meer entlang nach Sur (Muscat - Sur etwa 200 km). Vorbei an Sur nehmen wir die Route 23 landeinwärts. Nach etwa 50 km queren wir das Wadi Bani Khalid zum ersten Mal. Wenig später beschreibt die "23" einen Bogen nach Nordwesten, die 2 km nach dem Wadi B. K. links abgehende Route "35" ignorieren wir. Von dieser Abzweigung fahren wir 43 km auf der "23" Richtung NNW zur nächsten Abzweigung einer Teerstraße nach Wadi Bani Khalid. Bis hierher kann man auch von Muscat über die "15" und "23" durch das Landesinnere anfahren (216 km). Wir biegen jetzt rechts ab auf die Straße zu den Bädern/Pools von Khalid. Nachdem wir 22,2 km duch die Berge gefahren sind, erreichen wir wieder das Wadi Bani Khalid. Hier biegen wir jedoch nach Norden ab zu den pools und der upper section des Wadis Richtung Moqel/Muqal. Wir fahren nun 7,2 km flussauf, zuletzt unmittelbar am Rand des Wadis. Wo die Straße hier das Wadi nach rechts verlässt, stellen wir unser Auto ab.

We come from Muscat and drive along Route 17 by the sea to Sur (Muscat - Sur about 200 km). Passing Sur, we take Route 23 inland. After about 50 km we cross the Wadi Bani Khalid for the first time. A little later, "23" curves to the northwest, and we ignore route "35", which branches off to the left 2 km after Wadi B. K.. From this junction we drive 43 km on the "23" in a NNW direction to the next junction of a tarred road to Wadi Bani Khalid. You can also get here from Muscat via the "15" and "23" through the interior (216 km). We now turn right onto the road to the baths/pools of Khalid. After driving 22.2 km through the mountains, we reach Wadi Bani Khalid again. Here, however, we turn north towards the pools and the upper section of the wadi in the direction of Moqel/Muqal. We now drive 7.2 km upstream, finally right on the edge of the wadi. We park our car where the road leaves the wadi to the right.

Wir laufen und waten flussauf. Nach etwa 25 Minuten ab Schluchteingang kommen wir zu einer Höhle, zu derem Eingang rechts hinauf Betonstufen führen. Die Höhle selbst ist niedrig und eng. Will man etwas weiter hinein, ist Kriechen angesagt. Im Höhleninneren fließt ein Bach. Im Anschluss an die Besichtigung der Höhle kann man weiter flussaufwärts gehen, solange Lust und Kondition vorhanden. Denselben Weg geht es dann wieder zurück, wobei man sich dann am und im feuchten Nass hält.

We walk and wade upstream. After about 25 minutes from the entrance to the gorge, we come to a cave with concrete steps leading up to the entrance on the right. The cave itself is low and narrow. If you want to get a little further in, you have to crawl. A stream flows inside the cave. After visiting the cave, you can continue upstream if you feel like it and are in good physical condition. You then return the same way, keeping to and in the wet water.
