Iremos desde Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port Por la D933 dirección Pau, en Saint Jean de Vieux nos desviamos a la derecha dirección Irati por la D18. Seguiremos por la D18 y dejamos el desvío de Mendive a un lado y seguimos subiendo el puerto. Justo antes de llegar al coll de Harizkurutxe tenemos el desvío a la derecha por la pista de Mendiondo. Baja hasta el arroyo y lo remonta, aparcamos al final. Volvemos a la D18 y seguiremos al puerto pasaremos la Chapelle d'Iraty y llegados al Chalet d'Iraty giraremos a la derecha por la D301 hasta el col d'Irau. En donde aparcamos el vehículo de acceso

Por el sendero que va hacia el norte hasta cruzarnos con la vaguada de nuestro descenso. Con un solo vehículo desde Mendiondo retrocedemos unos metros para coger la senda que sube por la ladera hasta el Malbei, luego hacia el sur por el cordal en dirección a Irau.
