De entre los barrancos del río Hias, Fuente el Haya, Somo, Río Salto y Pasada Mala del Portillo de Ataxa, conformados en el circo de Ungino, tenemos el intermedio entre Salto y Haya. No es barranco de gran envergadura pero sí que es una gran opción, junto con Salto, para entrar al río Hias en épocas de lluvias. Abierto en su parte superior, con rápeles no demasiado complicados, una vez que se junta con el resto de afluentes, nos llevará a una parte inferior que reúne el agua del resto de barrancos, aumentando así el rumor de las aguas que nos llevarán hasta la magnífica cascada helicoidal. Mejor realizarlo en primavera o tras lluvias. Magníficos bosques para hacer de este entorno envidiable, un buen lugar al que ir a practicar el barranquismo.

Desde Amurrio a Balmaseda por la A624, en el p.k 44 o 45 cogemos el desvío a Izoria y Maroño Subiremos al embalse de Maroño y seguiremos hasta Aguíñiga en donde aparcaremos

From Amurrio to Balmaseda on the A624, at km 44 or 45 take the turn-off to Izoria and Maroño. We will go up to the Maroño reservoir and continue to Aguíñiga where we will park.

Salimos del pueblo siguiendo la pista que remonta el valle al lado del río, por su izquierda orográfica, siguiendo siempre esta pista que discurre paralela, subiremos cruzando los barrancos de Pasada Mala y Salto por su parte inferior, aquí encontraremos un sendero que nos lleva a la parte inferior de Somo, lo dejamos a la izquierda y seguimos nuestro sendero ascendente, que tras dos curvas, nos vuelve a acercar a una altitud de 700m ahora sí a la cabecera de nuestro barranco.

We leave the village following the track that goes up the valley next to the river, by its orographic left, always following this track that runs parallel, we will go up crossing the ravines of Pasada Mala and Salto by its lower part, here we will find a path that takes us to the lower part of Somo, we leave it to the left and follow our ascending path, which after two curves, brings us back to an altitude of 700m now to the head of our ravine.

Tras ese rápel podemos salir por la pista que se nos cruza o seguir haciendo 2 rápeles más para ir a la parte de los meandros, zona mágica y salir por el puente al lado del pueblo.
