Acceso 1: https://es.wikiloc.com/rutas-descenso-de-barrancos/garganta-mayor-18009872 Desde la carretera que comunica Garganta con el Monasterio de Yuste, se coge el camino vecinal, conocido como camino del repetidor o del Pon Benito. Tras 9 km de ascenso, la mitad de ellos cementados, se llega a un ensanche justo al final del mismo, donde hay que estacionar el vehiculo, estando a 200m del inicio del descenso. Acceso2: https://es.wikiloc.com/rutas-descenso-de-barrancos/barranco-garganta-mayor-27214087 Desde la carretera CC-913 , a 200 metros de pasar el puente de la Garganta Mayor (Pilatillas) ascender por la pista hormigonada que sale a la izq. Continuar dirección norte por la pista más evidente (2.750m), a la altura de un cruce dejar el coche (Sin obstaculizar).

Aproximación 1: Desde el aparcamiento se comienza a caminar en línea recta, siguiendo la misma cota de nivel, dejando unos prados a la izquierda y en dirección a un gran castaño hasta llegar al cauce de la garganta, junto a un vado. Aproximación 2: Continuamos por la pista norte (izq) y pillar una senda poco marcada a la derecha que zigzaguea hasta alcanzar una pista, la cual tomaremos a la izquiera hasta las casas del Revellón, Pasamaos las casas y bajamos al cauce junto a un vado.

El descenso comienza con una serie de destrepes y saltos hasta llegar a dar vista a la Chorrera Mayo, a partir de aquí se encuentran seis rápeles de 12, 10, 20, 15, 15, 13m para llegar al corredor que finaliza en el Charco Hondo, punto final del descenso.

Retorno 1: Habrá que buscar una senda muy cerrada a la izquierda, remontado por la misma ladera de robles jóvenes hasta encontrarla y seguirla hasta el principio del descenso. Tomar con calma el ascenso pues tiene mucha vegetación y desnivel Retorno2: Tomar una senda a la izquierda que mantiene la curva de nivel hasta llegar a una pista, la cual recorreremos hasta llegar a los coches en 1 km apróx.
