Situándonos en Villargordo de Cabriel en la antigua NIII iremos hacia el pueblo de Contreras, al pie de la presa del embalse. Por la derecha orográfica tendremos un carreterín asfaltado que baja al río, justo antes de entrar en la finca privada podremos aparcar el coche de retorno. Con el coche de acceso volvemos a la CV4661, subimos al pueblo de Contreras y continuamos por la carretera hasta pasadas unas curvas enlazadas y llegar casi arriba, en una curva cerrada de izquierdas, a la derecha tendremos una pequeña explanada y una pista forestal que da acceso a la senda de los Cuchillos de Contreras, por aquí aparcamos el coche de acceso.

Situating us in Villargordo de Cabriel on the old NIII we will go towards the village of Contreras, at the foot of the dam of the reservoir. On the orographic right we will have a paved road that goes down to the river, just before entering the private estate we can park the car back. With the access car we return to the CV4661, we go up to the village of Contreras and continue along the road until we pass some curves and get almost up, in a sharp left curve, on the right we will have a small esplanade and a forest track that gives access to the path of the Cuchillos de Contreras, here we park the access car.

Desde el aparcamiento de acceso bajaremos al cauce seco por la senda evidente. Seguiremos el cauce seco algo más de un kilómetro hasta la cabecera del primer rápel, poco antes de llegar al cuchillar.

From the access parking we will descend to the dry riverbed by the obvious path. We will follow the dry riverbed for more than a kilometer until the head of the first rappel, just before reaching the cuchillar.

4 rápeles obligatorios y un par de ellos destrepables en un entorno envidiable que nos baja hasta el Cabriel.

Saldremos a la derecha por un sendero que nos lleva al río. Encontraremos un puente de hierro por el que cruzaremos el Cabriel. Atención porque el puente no tiene tablero: se cruza como una vía ferrata, hay sitio para apoyar pies y manos todo el trayecto. Seguiremos la pista por la derecha orográfica del Cabriel hasta la central hidroeléctrica. Si tenemos dos coches la seguiremos hasta el lugar en el que hayamos aparcado. Si solo tenemos el de acceso, cruzaremos por la estación del aforo e iremos a coger la pista que remonta por La Peraleja hasta llegar casi hasta la carretera. Aquí veremos otra pista que nos cruza y que tomaremos a la derecha y nos lleva a la curva de la carretera en la que aparcamos.

Attention because the bridge has no board: it crosses like a via ferrata, there is room to support feet and hands all the way. We will follow the track along the orographic right of the Cabriel to the hydroelectric plant. If we have two cars we will follow it to the place where we have parked. If we only have the access car, we will cross the gauging station and go to take the track that goes up through La Peraleja until we almost reach the road. Here we will see another track that crosses us and that we will take to the right and takes us to the curve of the road where we parked.
