El cañón de El Mazuco o del río Bolugas comienza en una surgencia y termina en un sumidero, hecho por el que el descenso ya es interesante a pesar de que en el cañón, propiamente dicho, solo hay dos rapeles, pero añadiremos que hay zonas colosales, insólitas y selváticas. Merece la pena visitar parte de la Cueva de la Boriza (surgencia donde empieza el descenso) donde encontraremos meandros, marmitas, sifones y bonitas cascadas. A tener en cuenta que la cueva es técnica y atlética y que tras las dos primeras cascadas encontramos estrecheces y un paso sifonante. El cañón termina en el sumidero del Bolugo, con una entrada de grandes dimensiones totalmente inesperada, punto crítico con caudales altos ya que la corriente podría arrastrarnarnos. Ambas cuevas fueron exploradas en los 70 por el OUCC.

Llegamos a la localidad de El Mazuco, subimos a la parte alta del pueblo y tras pasar el parque llegamos a una pista a la izquierda por la que continuamos hasta llegar a un apartadero en un cruce. En este lugar podemos dejar el coche, o bien en el pueblo.

We arrive at the village of El Mazuco, climb to the top of the village and after passing the park we reach a track on the left along which we continue until we reach a lay-by at a crossroads. In this place we can leave the car, or in the village.

Comenzamos a andar siguiendo la misma pista y la misma dirección hasta que llegamos a un característico castaño caído (marcado con wpt) y comenzamos a bajar por el bosque siguiendo trazas de senderos, buscamos la derecha y nos pegamos a unas paredes para seguir descendiendo hasta la boca de la cueva. La bajada es bastante empinada y si no encontramos bien los pasos se puede complicar, es muy común acabar poniendo la cuerda a árboles para llegar al cauce.

We start walking following the same track and the same direction until we reach a characteristic fallen chestnut tree (marked with wpt) and begin to descend through the forest following traces of trails, we look for the right and we stick to some walls to continue descending to the mouth of the cave. The descent is quite steep and if we do not find the steps well can be complicated, it is very common to end up putting the rope to trees to reach the riverbed.

Después de visitar la cueva comenzamos el descenso con unos curiosos destrepes por selváticos bloques, llegamos a la confluencia con el río Bolugas y nos toca un tramo de andar por río, bastante abierto, con algún resaltillo, hasta que aparecen paredes y el primer rapel. Se trata de un R 12 m. Que nos deja en otro curioso lugar con bloques, techo, un pasillo opcional ,y una preciosa pocita turquesa. Continuamos con pequeños resaltes y llegamos a los restos de un muro de una antigua presa, a la izquierda en un árbol el segundo rapel y llegamos al espectacular sumidero.

After visiting the cave we begin the descent with some curious skills by jungle blocks, we reach the confluence with the Bolugas river and we have a stretch of walking along the river, quite open, with some projections, until walls appear and the first rappel. It is a R 12 m. That leaves us in another curious place with blocks, roof, an optional corridor, and a beautiful turquoise pool. We continue with small projections and we arrive at the remains of a wall of an old dam, to the left in a tree the second rappel and we arrive at the spectacular sinkhole.

La salida, evidentemente, por la izquierda, por sendero desdibujado y muy empinado, haciendo zetas hasta llegar de nuevo a la parte alta del pueblo, donde cogeremos la pista para llegar al coche.

The exit, obviously, on the left, on a very steep and blurred path, zigzagging until we get back to the upper part of the village, where we take the track to get to the car.

Carácter bastante abierto la mayor parte del descenso con multitud de escapes posibles. Evidentemente la cueva de La Boriza no los tiene, así como la cueva del Bolugo.

Most of the descent is quite open, with a multitude of possible escapes. Obviously the cave of La Boriza does not have them, as well as the cave of Bolugo.
